A lot of people nowadays only have laptops. I could understand if you have a desktop that you want to come on all the time or is on 24/7.
I guess a laptop WOULD be different in that you take it with you when you leave the house, so what you are saying makes sense. I didn't think of that.
But again, the desktop is not really "on" 24/7 - mostly it's in sleep mode, or completely off when I'm in sleep mode. :D

Interesting, and good news--surprised it took this long. Although the quoted article seems to show a bit of a misunderstanding about how the mouse actually works--yes, some people aren't comfortable with the way it detects clicks, but it has to do with the touch sensors, not "fat buttons".

IMO it doesn't look THAT bad. You all have to understand Apple is really pushing hard to get (iOS) iPad users to switch to OS X for their desktop needs as opposed to Windows switches. There are so many iOS features that are being built-in, I guess Apple figures they'll add the same visual cues in their applications to make it a simpler transition.
It's funny though, the OS itself is more monochrome this time around, but their applications are much more...."festive". :|

I personally see nothing wrong with making software look like a real thing. It's one of the most natural user interfaces because people know how to use books, paper, and folder tabs.

A very "noobish" question.....Are iMac's upgradable? The reason i ask is because my current computer is a Dell XPSONE 24 (all in one machine). It has been great, but is rapidly becoming outdated. I can no longer update my graphics card without issues and due to the machines design i cannot upgrade the graphics card. (power supply cannot handle anything better).
I am really considering the iMac because i love the all-in-one designs and fits what i need. However, i don't want to be stuck in this same situation in 2 -3 years.

As someone making the switch from the PC to Mac world because of the iPod, I'd say Apple is on the upswing here. At least 3 friends of mine have made the switch as well.
I'd say plenty of people are beginning to realize there is a world besides Microsoft out there and the iPod is the ambassador of all of this. Speaking for myself but maybe others, once I go over to Mac, I'm not going back. So as long as Apple and the iPod stay relevant, I think you're going to see iPod users stick with their iPods and also buy Macs next time around.

For this arena, the tables are turned, and the person trying to preach the gospel of some Microsoft music player will sound like the Apple nuts I used to scratch my head at in 1998. Microsoft would have to do something complete revolutionary to change these dynamics, and I think they're too much of a behemoth to pull that one off.

Would only make sense when combining Mac App Store and iOS App Store someway while keeping the syncing of the iOS devices in iTunes.
Or just do away with iTunes entirely and choose which available (i.e. purchased) apps you want to install directly in App Store on the device. Let any backups be cloud or Time Machine based.

Mr Blah, your name seems to be appropriate. No one looks at a tower and says, "Hey, that looks like a really innovative computer." However, how many people think that (maybe not in those exact words, but the idea) about the iMac? I'd venture to guess a lot more than ever thought that about a Dell. That's why Apple's viewed as the leader in the computer industry even by a lot of people who don't have or even want Macs. If Apple sacrificed that for the sake of perceived benefit on the part of the same people that go for Dells because they're "tools", they're not going to gain anything. Apple survives and flourishes by being the technology leaders, not by copying overused designs like towers.

To US its a big deal. It's a blow to the Al-Qaeda that doesn't exist anymore. The current one will still function just as it has for nearly a decade in its cell based way. If anything this will just piss off extremists. Don't think for a second some type of retaliation (most likely attacks in the Middle East) won't come about from this.
