I think I have lost 7 -10k points from the 10th 11th and 12th instead of gaining ~60-70k pts. the 10th I had ~3420 the 11th was ~7200 and the 12th was ~3420. now it's ~3420, 0 and I think 0. Don't suppose it would do any good to complain since I don't have any "proof" of what happened.

Oh well it's just a "game" anyway  and as long as I'm doing something meaningfull that is what really counts anyway. I'm not smart enough to contribute to science myself so this is my way to add to our knowledge of the universe and life.

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to everyone everywhere and may your points pile up.

yeah i'm not sure how i lost, but i know i lost a bigadv unit. but yeah, as long as we're contributing to a good cause, that's what counts.

and happy Thanksgiving to you as well :)

More important than an "empty" button I would like to see a restore function in the Trash, where you can highlight one or more files or folders and click the "restore" button.

Increased market share is a good thing, but I'm not sure how I'd feel if Apple overtook Dell...

    ...guys, I was wondering...

Does BOOT CAMP already support DUAL-CORE under XP ?

Sorry for the ignorance, just bought me a new Macbook and going to install either PARALLELS or BOOT CAMP ( waiting for VMWARE... :p )

    Thanks for feedback !=)

Yes, BootCamp uses the hardware natively, so that means dual-core support. As to whether you should use bootcamp or Parallels... Well I guess that ultimatly depends on what you need windows for... 3D games or REALLY CPU untensive App? Go for bootcamp. Otherwise, parallels does the trick nicely and doesn't require you to reboot (a BIG bonus for me...)

    Never too late.

Isn't that what people said when Apple released the iPod - its too late... Now look.

It's too late for Microsoft - they are just riding Apple's coattails now, in a desperate attempt to create something that can compete with iTunes+iPod...but thats all it is, a desperate attempt

Entitlement? No offense as many feel the same way. I just don't understand how some can realistically expect such a product/service to be free for how new it is.

Seriously, if you can't afford the 20 bucks, should you have anything other than a trac phone?

    And the case issue? LMAO!
    1. Apple would tell case manufacturers if this were a problem so that they could prepare.
    2. The difference in thickness would be minimal (10%?? No way). So only a few cases would be affected so owners of white iphones would have to selected from a smaller variety of options. If this were a true story that is.

Apple actually NEVER tells case manufacturers when there's going to be updated/changed specifications, so case manufacturers never know. Case in point...the Verizon iPhone and it's change. Not one case manufacturer knew before hand. And the manufacturers that this hurts the most are the smaller, more custom/high end case manufacturers, like all of the CNC guys. Just creates more setup for them, and a headache to run pieces at yet another dimension. I have quite a few friends in this line of work, and I know how they hated the unannounced change in specs to the Verizon model.

The word "same" never occurs in the text, which never contemplates multiple installs.

It says you can't use it in a virtual machine. End of story. End of discussion.

Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses to also run the same licensed copy of Vista running natively on the licensed device in a virtualization environment as well.

In other words, if you purchase or build a PC with Windows Vista Ultimate, you can use that same installation and license to install it in a virtualization environment on that same platform. That goes beyond what has been done on any other platform for virtualization, and why the limitation is specifically delineated on Vista Home:

You may not use the software installed[1] on the licensed device[2] within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.

[1] This means "the software" (i.e., Vista Home Basic or Premium) is already installed on a licensed device.

[2] The "licensed device" is the device that Vista Home is already installed on, and that license may not be reused to also install it in a virtualization environment, which you CAN do with Vista Business and Ultimate, because Microsoft includes additional licenses specifically for virtualization use, which is why there are all these specifics about virtualization use on the lower end Vista versions in the EULA in the first place.

The Vista Business/Ultimate EULA on the same topic states:

    6. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may use the software installed on the
licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If
you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital,
information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management
services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications
protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights
management services or using full volume disk drive encryption.

This is because Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses so that you can use the same copy, legally ALSO within a virtualization environment on that same system. This is more than is possible with any other commercial OS, from a licensing perspective. The restrictions on Vista Home are ONLY restricting you from using it in a VM on the device where it's already installed. If you buy Vista Home standalone as a retail box, and it's not installed anywhere else, you are free, legally and technically, to use it in a VM to your heart's content.

I never said I wasn't going to buy/drool over this mystery product.

I'm just not going to be impressed.
Why would you buy a product you're not impressed with? "Man, this iPod sucks so hard. *drool* I think I'll buy it!" Is this some kind of new teenage lingo? :D

Yeah, my bad :D The cooling pad is loud but its not as loud as my first HP Pavilion laptop with a Pentium 4 desktop (yep, a desktop processor) processor in it. That thing had 3 fans running all the time.

Amazon is poised to pwn both Apple and Google on that one.

If MobileMe is any indication, Apple just doesn't get cloud - if they plan on charging for it, Amazon is happy to take their business - they'll sell you plain mp3s for the boot!

Agreed. I can foresee this being another poorly made mobileme addon which is pure crap to use if you are outside the US (due to immensely slow network connectivity from Apple's servers).

Amazon will rule the cloud since they have been doing it for so long, and have multiple DC's in the US and Europe. Apple are at least 10 years behind here and will have a hell of a hard time getting to Amazons level.

Any news in the latest build of Lion? When can I install it and be sure most works? :D

    (on Snow Leopard)

    1. Pay $99 to get into the Apple developer program.
    2. Download and install in new partition.

No having a Lion preview I can't say for sure, but I would imagine this will look odd if windowed along side other windows with a different UI. However the push from Apple appears to be for full screen apps. You'd simply switch your app and the whole screen shows what your working on.

In full screen mode I can see how this iCal UI would work, it will be like having your whole screen as a calendar. I can only really see an issue when working with side by side windows. No matter how much Apple push thier ideas, some people will prefer to work this way.

To be honest I couldn't care what it looks like. Its the abilities of the programme that matter to me. If there are new features introduced that make iCal a better programme then great. The UI is ultimately just superficial to the abilities the programme offers the user.
