What does your online status say? Mine changed today and says the following:
Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On October 3, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT.
No idea what it means though. If you are a July 2nd filer, the above surely should not mean I am about to receive mine anytime now...Confused:confused:

If I were you, I'll follow it closely. Don't rely on your employer and lawyer. I have a friend in Atlanta whose case was closed accidentally. He waited for a year to follow-up with his employer and lawyer only to find out that BEC closed the case because they claim that they never received any response for the 45-day letter. His H1 was also getting close to teh 6 yr. limit.

The fiscal year starts in October 2007. Although you can apply from April 1, 2007 you can start working on October 1, 2007. You have to maintain legal status until October 1. Yor apllication for H1B does not guarantee you legal status before october 1.

By the way, I checked the Indian Customs website (BAGGAGE RULES (http://www.cbec.gov.in/customs/cs-act/formatted-htmls/cs-rulef.htm)) and the limits on jewellery that can be brought in duty-free is:

(i) upto an aggregate value of Rs. 10,000 by a gentleman passenger
(ii) Upto aggregate value of Rs. 20,000 by a lady passenger.

As zCool pointed out, points based system is just a delay technique. No point in discussing its pro's and con's. If they treat it as long term solution with proposal for near term; then it may be OK otherwise we are screwed.
Point based system is much much more difficult to formulate. With present pace of lawmaking and implementation capability (of congress and USCIS respectively) it will take years before anything can happen and we will be rotten by that time.
Our hope is with CIR with a few of our measures or SKILL/STRIVE/TALENT etc.

Whats with all the gay tutorials???
all of them basically say "copy and paste this, ill tell you what it is later" and then not go indepth on all of the code.
i think ill look at that IMHO stuff :S
^Don't lie to him. Spyrl your going to need to remove your current DX9 card or DX10 card and put in a DX7 when your testing. lol i wasnt thinking at the time and only reliesed what i said later. (lol silly me)
and btw i was using that slide out menu as an example.

True but these were not applications that were filed 2 weeks back. Many people had 485 pending for over 2 years due to retrogression. Also a lot of cases that got a visa # still had pending security checks so technically they did not approve 60K 485, they only used up the visa#s.Why not? USCIS already approved 60K 485 applications in 2 weeks time. How come they cannot do the same with some extra money (i.e. premium processing). They can do anything if want to do.

When I went to Canada from LA, one of the airlines staff did not even know that he has to take the I-94 out. And when I told him that he must take the I-94 then he called another airlines staff. He seemed to be aware of I-94 stuffs. I wonder if my I-94 card went to correct customs/immigration file.
I wonder why can't US immigration stamp on the passport when we leave the country. How can we trust an airlines staff? How do we know the airlines and it's staff are trained properly on immigration/I-94 process.

My company is layingoff people. We have been through 5 rounds of layoffs. They have asked all the H1Bs to hold off until about 6 months after the final layoff is over. They have issued written memos to all my cols in H1B stating this reason. Truly unfortunate.

Here is how it happens,
1. When you file for your I-140 Under EB2 you also provide the A#
2. So when your I-140 gets approved your 485 case will automatically know about this.
What you have do
1. Go to InfoPass and verify that your new I-140 is present on your application.
2. Call USCIS Help desk and check. Also tell them you filed in employment based and that your Priority date is current(Ofcourse if it is current only tell them). Request them to open an SR
3. your case will be approved in 25 days.
For me it took 20 days after i opened the SR. The official time is 45 days to 60 days.

How does AC21 will come into play when a person files I-485 with the letter from employer that employment will be availabe once green card is issued.
Does person has to join the employer after green card is issued ? As Green card will be availabe only after 180 days of filing.
